A cult favorite among fans of fantasy, "The Dark Crystal" was released in 1982 and directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. Featuring groundbreaking animatronics and based on the art of illustrator Brian Froud, the story revolved around Jen, an elf-like 'Gelfling' on a quest to restore balance to his alien world by returning a lost shard to a powerful but broken gem. And fans of the original can now brace themselves for a "Dark Crystal" prequel series. Set many years before the events of Jim Henson's 1982 film, the series will feature an all new adventure, telling of three Gelflings who set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world. The series be produced by The Jim Henson Company and executive produced by Louis Letterier, Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford.
